9 Gainsight Alternatives for 2026 (From Enterprise CS to Self-Serve)

Gainsight alternatives for 2026, sorted by who you are: lighter enterprise CS suites if you run a CS org, self-serve churn prediction if you don't. Real pricing where it exists.

Gabriel RodriguesGabriel Rodrigues

Gainsight is the heavyweight of customer success software. It's broad, powerful, and priced for large CS organizations. If your CS team is you and a Slack channel, that's a lot of platform to carry and a lot of budget to sign away.

TL;DR: Gainsight is an enterprise CS platform with demo-only pricing, built for large CS orgs. If you want a lighter enterprise CS suite, look at ChurnZero, Totango, Vitally, Custify, Planhat, or Velaris. If you are a small team that just wants churn prediction without the headcount, look at Retain (retain.so), CustomerScore.io, or Cuoral.

Why people start shopping around

Cost, mostly. Gainsight doesn't publish pricing, sits at the top of the category, and you can't scope a budget without a sales call.

Size is the second reason. The suite spans CS management, product experience (PX), customer communities, customer education (Skilljar), and a layer of AI agents. Rolling all of that out is a project.

Third, it assumes a CS org exists. Gainsight is built for teams of CS managers running playbooks, journeys, and renewals across thousands of accounts. Without that team, most of it goes untouched.

To be fair to Gainsight

It's genuinely good at running customer success at scale, which is exactly what it set out to do.

Gainsight reports 3,500+ companies using it, and markets "15 years of CS expertise, rebuilt for the agentic era." The suite covers CS management, in-app product analytics and engagement (PX), customer communities, customer education through Skilljar, plus Staircase AI and Atlas AI agents on top.

For a real CS organization with named accounts and renewal motions, that breadth is the reason to buy. For everyone else, it's the reason not to.

Group 1: Still enterprise, lighter than Gainsight

These are the other customer success platforms worth putting next to Gainsight. To be clear, none of them are small-team tools. They're real CS platforms, just narrower than the full Gainsight suite.

ChurnZero

Best for: CS teams that want a focused customer success platform without Gainsight's full PX, communities, and education sprawl.

ChurnZero offers customer health scoring, automated journeys, playbooks, in-app messaging, renewal forecasting, surveys, and AI agents on top. It's a tight, CS-centric product.

Pricing: Demo-only, sales-led. Third-party listings put it firmly in enterprise territory.

The catch: It's still built around CS managers running playbooks. Lighter than Gainsight, but it assumes you have a CS function. More in ChurnZero alternatives.

Totango

Best for: Enterprise post-sales teams focused on customer ROI and revenue growth, with churn prediction via its Unison AI engine.

Totango merged with Catalyst, so the two are now one company building "customer growth solutions." If you were comparing Catalyst, that's where it lives now.

Pricing: Demo-only, enterprise sales model.

The catch: Built and priced for large organizations.

Vitally

Best for: Mid-market to enterprise CS teams that want a unified workspace with health scores, playbooks, surveys, and project management. It reports 600+ B2B CS teams.

Pricing: Demo-only.

The catch: Like Gainsight, it's designed around CSM headcount, and it shows the moment customer success is one person's side of the desk.

Custify

Best for: SaaS customer success teams that want a 360 customer view, health scoring, churn signals, and playbooks.

Pricing: No public pricing on the site. Third-party listings put the starting point around $899/month for up to 3 seats. Treat that as an estimate and confirm with them.

The catch: Demo-led, and it still expects a CS function to exist and use it.

Planhat

Best for: GTM and CS teams that want a broad "customer platform" spanning data, workflows, and AI agents across the lifecycle.

Planhat positions itself as an agentic customer platform and reports 280+ clients, scaling from startups to large enterprises.

Pricing: Demo-only.

The catch: It's broad and enterprise-priced. A lot of surface area if all you want is churn warnings.

Velaris

Best for: Mid-market and enterprise B2B SaaS teams that want an AI-native CS platform with agents that flag churn risk and expansion before a human spots it.

Velaris builds a "context graph" over account data, usage, and conversations, and integrates with 70+ tools.

Pricing: Demo-only, no public pricing.

The catch: Newer and AI-forward, but still a mid-market and enterprise CS platform, not something you sign up for yourself.

Group 2: Lighter, self-serve churn prediction for small teams

Go here if Gainsight felt like too much platform and too much money. These tools spot risk early rather than giving a CS team a full workspace.

CustomerScore.io

Best for: Lean CS, growth, and RevOps teams that want health scoring and churn prediction with an AI assistant on top.

CustomerScore.io scores every customer, explains the risk factors, and answers questions like "who should I worry about this week?" It pulls from Stripe, HubSpot, Mixpanel, PostHog, Salesforce, Segment, and more, and reports a 4.8/5 G2 rating.

Pricing: Free trial and a demo. List pricing is not public.

The catch: Pricing isn't public, so you won't know the number before the demo.

Cuoral

Best for: Teams that want behavioral churn signals plus live session replays in one place.

Cuoral analyzes 50+ behavioral signals, replays user sessions to spot friction, and triggers retention workflows across email, Slack, WhatsApp, and support. It targets startups through enterprise.

Pricing: Core subscription, pay-as-you-go, and enterprise tiers. Specific amounts are not public.

The catch: It reaches past prediction into support and replay, and pricing is quote-based.

Retain (retain.so)

Best for: B2B SaaS past product-market fit, with hundreds or thousands of customers, where the team can't keep a close eye on every account anymore. Catches churn before the cancel without hiring a data team.

Retain is churn prevention and customer analytics, built to run without anyone tending it.

Feature usage goes in through our SDK, a single API call, or events you already push to PostHog. Payments come from Stripe or Polar. Retain scores every account continuously and interrupts you only when the risk climbs, with the reason and a next step attached.

It also drafts a win-back message from that customer's real usage, and tracks the revenue you save. Setup takes about 10 minutes and no data team.

Pricing: From $79/mo (up to 500 active accounts), after a 14-day free trial. Sign up at /signup.

The catch: It's a younger product built around prediction and early alerts, not a full CS suite with playbooks, journeys, and renewal forecasting. If you genuinely need CSM tooling, that's a different shape of product.

Which Gainsight alternative should you pick?

A real CS org with CSMs and renewals. You need a CS platform, just maybe not all of Gainsight. Compare ChurnZero, Totango, Vitally, Custify, Planhat, and Velaris, and budget for demos.

CS power, but tighter. ChurnZero and Velaris are the more focused, more AI-forward picks in the enterprise group.

Your team can't keep a close eye on every account. Retain, CustomerScore.io, or Cuoral. You need a warning, not a workspace. We break this group down further in the best AI churn prevention software.

Most small teams shopping for Gainsight don't have a customer success problem yet. What they're missing is much smaller: a heads-up when an account goes cold.
